Evening All
I've a T39 bought from ebay 12 months ago (and have used until now). I just
switched contracts from TMobile to Orange. However the orange sim won't
work in my T39, it does work in the Siemens A55 that came in the contract.
The SIM works in other phones also.
Any clues that might resolve this would be most welcome. How can I confirm
the phone is unlocked? Can orange lock a SIM to a particular phone (and can
I get around this)? Anyone know what causes this?
I've taken some photos, one of the SIMLock menu, in the Service menu
(showing open padlocks I think). The other is of the main screen; top-left
there's a strange cross-through-handset symbol that I don't know the
meaning of. Links below (14kb each):

The padlocks are open, so it's not SIM-locked. No idea where the
problem is.
Btw, do all five padlocks appear open?

I'm not quite sure what you mean with "top-left", as it seems to be
top-right, but anyhow, that's what the manual says: "You cannot
receive any incoming calls."; the other one being: "You have received
a voice message."

have you done a network search to see what networks come up?

Thanks. I had tried that multiple times, and it hadn't worked - but I just
went through the list of networks (under preferred networks) adding any
named Orange, tried again now and it worked.
Again, many thanks.

Unfortunately the connection was a 1 off, I couldn't repeat it.
It's transpired the problem wasn't with any settings on the phone, but that
the IMEI is blacklisted by Orange. The SIM works in any other handset, and
the handset works with any non-orange SIM.
I've contacted orange support who say the phone was blacklisted, but that no
name, reason or date is recorded with the blacklisting. Nor did they have
any record of the former owner.
Having bought the phone in good faith, and having used it without incident
for 12 months on T-Mobile - do I have any recourse to get orange to remove
the blacklisting? Especially considering that they can't say why they
blacklisted it, or when.
Regards
Alex
