    Hi everyone,

I've seen that Optus have finally got the Sony-Ericsson Z200 in stock. But
none of the staff seem to know anything about what features it has. I have
downloaded the instruction manual from the Z200 UK site but still have a few
questions. I am hoping someone on this newsgroup may have the phone and be
    able to answer.

    1. The calendar feature - does it have the ability to schedule "recurrent"
events? I currently have a T39 & as well as "tasks" it has "appointments"
which you can schedule as recurrent (ie. daily, weekly, fortnightly etc)
with alarm. Can the Z200 do this or does it only have "tasks"?

    2. Actual standby & talk times? How many hours do you get & with what
usage? I know the quoted times are 200hrs & 4.5hrs respectively but also
from past experience with Ericssons I know that these are "theoretical".
For example, with my T39 even with pretty much no usage I get about 200hrs
    rather than 300hrs.

    3. Any major bugs\faults? Don't want to have spend the first few months
going to & from service centres.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Surely that must be obvious from the manual ?

Surely it cant actually be THAT bad ?

Surely the manual must tell you how to do recurrents if you can ?

Can't answer the first two questions yet, but standby & usage I get
over 48 hours use. However you should charge the battery initially
for 12 hours without use (doesn't say that in the manual).

Only "bug" I can find is in T9 implementation - sometimes for some
reason or other it wants to continue on a new line with a capital as
the first letter - oh yes also some unsent messages cannot be deleted,
you have to send them to yourself.

Still haven't figured out how to send mono colour pictures as a text
message, or how to save pictures sent to me (mono bog standard Nokia
    pictures).

Keys could also be slightly more pronounced, IMO.

Sorry I forgot to ask one more question.

Q4: How are contacts stored? Is it like the T39 where you just put a
person's name once & there is space for mobile, home, work, email etc or is
the old fashioned way a separate entry for each number (like on the T10's).

Don't know anything about the T39, (used Nokia before) but all seem to
be stored in one place, but as I just used Bluetooth to send them
across from my Palm T I am not really sure, but it looks pretty simple
    to me.

BTW the phone is also available at Telstra shops.

    And some independent sellers.

Surely *you* haven't read the manual and have no clue how bad manuals can
    be.

See above. The PDF manual - which is practically identical with the printed
version - covers synchronisation between phone and Outlook with XTND Connect
PC on half a page and doesn't lose a word about any details. And it covers
the entire "organizer" in the phone on one and a half pages. It does mention
appointments and tasks but nothing about recurrent events.

    Kind regards,
    Olaf

    I've been told $480 outright and $0 on a $33 plan for 24 months.
