    Hi everyone,

I bought on Ebay an USB data cable for my T610.
It is said on the box that it allows to use phone modem,
put and get stored numbers, put ringtones and pics in the
    phone.

I have to mention that this cable is not an original Ericsson one.
I'm running XP-PRO SP1, and have installed especially for that
Outlook 2000 (I usually work with Outlook Express....).

I've tried to install software, and all I get is the modem phone.
Nothing else works. The interface is installed on COM3. I've
already tried to move it to COM2, but this had no effect.

    Any suggestion welcome !

    Many thanks,

    Eric (France)

    Re: T610 USB Data cable

After a 'bit'... days of playing.. with this phone I started using the IR
port to transfer everything, then I went to the Bluetooth RF transfer
method, and both are working fine at this time. ... so for those using
cables, unless you have no B/T on your PC.. and I did not but bought one for
$35 (Belkin) that plugs into my USB port... I don't see why you would use a
    cable.

Currently, when I turn on B/T, it syncs automatically to my PC. I am able to
control all phone functions using the PHONESETTING.EXE program.. and I have
not heard of this before when reading, but a pretty neat little program for
checking / modifying ANY phone setting / command.

I used cables before and trust me, this is a better way to go.. but if all
you have it a cable then 'that works too' I suppose.

    Re: T610 USB Data cable

When properly installed, a data cable can do almost everything IR/BT
does except transferring items from phone to PC. And for the T610,
using Float's Mobile Agent, it even include transferring of
pictures/contacts from phone to PC previously not possible with other
    SE phones via cable.

The original poster should install SE's Mobile Phone Monitor
(available from the support site... look under T39m) in addition to
the driver. Make sure you enable the COM port that corresponds to
your cable once MPM is installed.

    Re: T610 USB Data cable

Many thanks for that clear answer.
After verification, i've seen COM3 was disabled
is windows control panel (phone settings).

After correcting this, Ericsson software is finally working !

The only thing that still refuses to work is xtnd (used to
sync phone / pc). A curious message appears at launch
that informs me that name is "incorrect". No explanation
    on this......

To confirm what Scott was writing, I bought last week a
bluetooth dongle on usb port, which I should receive soon.
I hope it will be more efficient, but I guess it will, since I have
in the car an oem bluetooth car kit that works fine....

I've already tested IR on a notebook with success, but it wasn't mine
and I have no IR port on my own pc.....
