    Hi there,

My contract is expiring in two months. I just tried to renew it for another
2 years and get a free phone, but the CSR was trying to convince me that I
either get a free phone or a system access fee waiver.
I tried to explain to him that I am not paying the system access fee anyway
but he was trying to convince me that it is one way or the other.
He mentioned that by renewing the contract I will be getting a few months of
"free local calling" which makes absolutely no sense with CityFido and that
is why I am asking you if anybody else has renewed their contract recently
    and what was your experience.

    Thanks!

either you start paying the 6.95$ system access fee and get a free phone
(not always free) or you continue NOT paying the 6.95$ with the new
contract and NOT get a handset upgrade!!

if it doesn't make sense well guess what... ROGERS never made sense and
never will... and now fido is rogers so live with it! besides rogers
REALLY I mean REALLY hates the fact that some people still have the old
cityfido plans and they (rogers) will do whatever it takes to piss off those
    customers!

Re: city fido renewing a contract question

Its not one or the other. Call back and speak to a manager, explain the
situation, remind them that you have several other Rogers services
(even if you don't). Remind them that you're the customer and they are
the provider - the privilege is to have you as the customer, not them
    as the provider.

You don't have to pay the access fee, you're correct. And upon renewal
you are entitled to a new handset at "new customer" prices (which isn't
always free). You can also use your Fido Dollars. Just keep pushing up
the food chain until you get what you expect.

But whatever you do, don't cancel. Its what they want you to do. So
milk it for all its worth.

And hey, if in the end there's no way you're gonna get what you want,
at least relish in the fact that YOU have the last laugh because you're
still on the unlimited plan, and Rogers hates you for it. And then
call all your friends using your unlimited local minutes and tell them
how bad Rogers treats you. The worst PR a company can get is from word
    of mouth.

    Cheers.
