$300 is a bit much... Why not start it at $1 and let the market decide?

That is actually the highest bid. I think it started at $5.

WOW! At the price it is going for, I might consider selling/auctioning mine
off at some point if I don't use it (provided that it is actually possible
to sell your services to someone else).

Damn you're right, I guess I'm not used to eBay's new layout (not all
that new, I've just been away from eBay for a while) -- I stand
    corrected.

I called Fido not long ago. I was surprised to find out that this is
perfectly legal to transfer packages/contracts. The new owner of the
contract must go through credit checks etc, but it seems to be a fairly
    common practice.

That's good news. However, I'll still keep my unlimited data plan for the
time being since I find it very useful. However, once I can no longer afford
it, I'll probably sell it if Fido still allows this. By the way, Fido's
unlimited data plan is not really unlimited. It is subject to "fair usage"
which I believe that Fido decided is 1GB upload/download per month.

1 Gig per month is reasonable for mobile data - certainly alot more
reasonable then other carriers "unlimited" data plans.

Ever checked out the Rogers "unlimited" Blackberry data plan? 25 megs is
what they call the top of "unlimited".

I just called Fido and asked if it was possible to transfer a friend's
$50 unlimited data plan to my account. I was told it is not possible
to transfer the $50 unlimited data plan from account to account. I
asked the rep to double check and she came back with the same answer.
The reason given to me was that you cannot transfer elective options
from account to account. So according to her, the only way to get the
data plan is to transfer another person's entire Fido account which
happens to have the unlimited data plan. Is this true?

Re: unlimited fido data plan for sale

The person who tried to auction off his/her data plan got screwed according
to the feedback. Someone notorious for bidding and not paying (person
already did it for a CityFido plan) raised the price to over $300 and then
never paid for it. According to the record of bids for this item, there
seemed to be a few legitimate bids but I would guess that most of the
bidding done on the person's data plan were fake.

Now he/she has relisted the Fido $50 unlimited data plan.

    http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=9726095017
    End time: 18-May-06 08:16:49 EDT
Current bid ($1) does not meet the reserve price.

Hopefully he/she cancels bids/bidders who are obviously not interested in
the product. Looking at the previous auction, I would have cancelled the
bids from the person who won the auction. The person had a -1 rating already
and it was for a similar issue. The person had previously bid on a CityFido
plan in Vancouver and never paid.
