Is it worth it? I guess it depends on which phone you want unlocked.
I bought a car charger from the local dollar store. Cost = $1
I bought a second charger just to use the phone-end plug. Cost = $1
I built an unlock cable using the plug and old motherboard components. Cost = $0
I downloaded a half-dozen programs so I'd have a nice selection. Cost = $0
I unlocked my old Siemens Fido phone last night. Total cost = $2 and a bit of solder.
