    Hi,
I've just recieved a Motorola Serial P2K cable from TangShop.com
    http://tangshop.com/t720-data-cable.html
for my T731c (CDMA equivalent of T720) although it doesn't seem to be the
    official Motorola cable.

I've tried to use it with MediaManager, the cable wasn't detected. I've
tried installing all sorts of drivers even though, as far as I understand, a
driver is only necessary if you wish to use the phone as a modem. I know
there's nothing wrong with my COM ports and I'm sure I've selected the right
ports, that my COM ports are detected by Windows XP and that the port
    drivers are installed.

Did anyone have similar problems with the serial data cable? Any input would
    be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    fee

I've been all over the net looking up a solution for my V188 with WinXP.

I download a couple P2k drivers, and several mototools, etc programs.

When I plug my phone into one USB port,it does nothing, acts just like it would if nothing was plugged in.

I plug it into the other port and it says in the taskbar "USB Device Not Recognized:One of the USB devices attatched to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, Click Here."

When I go through every process possible to install the P2K driver,it will not let me! Installing new hardware, update driver, uninstall old driver,I've hard it search for drivers and I've found them manually and it eventually all comes to "Cannot complete driver install wizard.Windows think there is no such thing as a better driver than the one already being used and willnot let you change that, even though Windows does not understand what you are trying to do"

With the USB port driver "uninstalled", as soon as I plug the phone in, it auto-detects the USB port driver and claim hardware has been detected, installed and is ready for use.

I've even put P2K on a CD and selected the option to install my hardware driver from a removable disk. Still, will not understand that I'm trying to install software driver for a external device. But I've put digitals cams, mp3 players, flash cards and everything else on the same USB,why doesnt it hassle me at those times.

I've seen so many people with a nearly identical problem, and the response from others is always "Well there must be a problem with the driver" "download the updated version and try it" etc, like we did something wrong, but there is nothing to do wrong. WinXP just seems to think I don't need another driver to hook up my phone for some reason. Can someone please help us all out.

Anyone who has Windows XP and has installed a driver to hook up a motorola phone via USB, please walk us through and see if there is something we can do to trick it into letting us add driver for an external removable device call a cellphone.

Find the Motorola PST program by searching Google//Yahoo. Install it and
then run the program and it will install a bunch of drivers that will
put you in business. Read tutorials at www.motomodders.net for details.
