Re: Recommendations needed...
Aron,
Keeping this 'on topic' for the nokia newsgroup which I am replying via.
The latest Symbian OS phones, like the 7650 and 6600 give you some of the
basic PDA functionality in a phone together with the facility to load in
programs as Java applications for special stuff you might want to do. I've
just moved up from a 7650 to 6600 with the main bonus being it can use MMC
cards to expand memory and the bluetooth works better. Not a bad option if
you just want to carry one device, not two.
There are some good deals going on the 6600 in the UK, but only if you are
signing a one-year contract. Expect to pay about £150 to have it on a
'pay-as-you-smile' card and then maybe £20 for unlocking it to any network.
You can find some on e-bay, but it is up to you if you want to take your
chances there or not. Plenty of e-bay sellers are honest and do good deals -
but not all of them. Check out the feedback.
The cameras built in to the 7650 and 6600 work in 'VGA' resolution - 640 x
480 pixels. Okay and convenient for quick snaps which will print out at
postcard size, but not as good as a so-many-megapixel digital camera. Once
again, convenient to have all in one device if you travel a lot - and the
memory card on the 6600 allows you to store plenty of pictures.
I'm happy with mine, but still use a 6mp digital camera for 'proper photos'
and a handwritten dieary for keeping my life organised.
