I've had an o2 v600 for a couple of weeks now - I'm mostly very happy
with it, but there's a few bugs and issues with it:
- SMS/MMS messages seem to be stored on the sim by default but this
quickly runs out of space. I'd like to be able to store these on the
phone memory instead but there doesn't seem to be an option to change
this.
- My own files going missing - I'd created my own 'tunes' category
within sounds. This had 10 midi tunes and some small mp3s ringtones I'd
made. Noticed last night that they can't be found anymore - the
category displays as empty, but I could hear them when the phone rang,
and the space they were using in the memory is still taken up. It's
like they're invisible or something.
- The battery meter seems a bit inconsistent. On at least 2 occasions,
I've left the phone on full charge on the side, and when I've picked it
up an hour or so later to check on it, it's switched itself off and the
'low battery' warning displays when I switch it on. When I plug it in
to charge, the meter instantly displays only 1 bar.
Anybody know any fixes for these? Espcially the missing sounds bug.
On a positive note, no mystery cracks appearing, no problems with
bluetooth on a mac or pc and I don't know why people have a problem
with the phonebook - just set it to display 'main only' and it works
ok.
cheers

Can you explore the OBEX file transfer option in Bluetooth Places??
Also, regarding the phonebook...the "Display Main only" option only hides
additional numbers per contact..it does not hide sim or phone contacts!!

Well, on both mac and pc I can transfer a vcard by using 'send to
device', I can transfer pics/video/sounds using 'browse device' and I
can send over java apps by pasting things onto 'OBEX push (this only
works on a PC though). I can also send files from the phone to both
computers. This is all I need to do frankly. It would nice to use iSync
with it on my Mac, but that's more a mac problem than a v600 problem.

Again, not really an issue for me - all my contacts are either on the
sim or on the phone, and if they were shared it would be no worse than
how my last 2 phones (both old nokias) would deal with it

I converted some AVIs I'd taken with a digital camera using Quicktime
pro. I exported them as 3gp files (176x144, mpeg4 video, AMR audio,
7fps @ 60kb/s)

Mystery cracks
Ed, what are you refering to, when you mentioned "no mystery cracks appearing".
My v600 developed a crack which started expanding right near the where the black plastic top meets the hinges.
Thank you
Cyrus.

Well known design fault with earlier V600s - talk to your retailler for a
replacement.
