The Motorola V60i was a very rugged and successful phone. It seems that the
V60S was only offered for a very short period of time before being
    discontinued.

    Why was the V60S discontinued?

Will Motorola continue the V60 Line of CDMA Phones?

What are the plans for the introductions of new models?

Probobly it was pulled cause it doesn't have good signal for the
antenna. The stub antenna is about the dumbest thing they did to this
phone, making it a piece of crap. Stick with the v60c or i phones,
those seem to be the best. You can always get the speakerphone
attachment if you really need it. If they do make a new version I hope
it has the extendable antenna on it. Sorry if i offended anyone.

I just bought a V60x, not sure if that's the successor to the V60s
since I'm kind of a newbie to the Motorola line.

I've got both a 60i and 60s I can tell no difference in performance. FWIW I
always extended the 60i antenna too. So not sure why you have an issue.

    Re: Successor to the V60S

I respectfully disagree. I've had my v60s for almost a week now and
have used it extensively (Los Angeles) with ZERO dropped calls. My
month-old Motorola T730 dropped numerous calls on a continual basis
(no change in calling times/places, etc.). I was about to throw it
out the window onto the freeway I was so pissed. It has an extendable
    antenna, as you probably know.

I realize that an extendable antenna is preferable, particularly in
fringe reception areas. But I've got to admit, the stubby on the v60s
does an admirable job. I'm impressed with the RF performance so far.
Now why can't Motorola make the T730 as solid and reliable as the v60,
without the case squeeking and crackling while you hold it?

I think are there are probably just too many variables that come into
play in the greater scheme of things to be able to make a blanket
statement that the v60s is a POS due to its stubby antenna, as
compared to models that do have the extendable antenna.

BTY, I've read here and on HOFO, and was told personally by a VZW
saleswoman at the local corporate store, that Verizon does indeed plan
on re-introducing the v60s on or around March 21.

No offense taken, BUT, the V60S is as good as any phone I've used
excepting the AT&T Panasonic DuraMax. It certainly beats my wife's 4400
    with its extendable antenna.

That is an Alltel phone. Uses 1x technology, or Alltels version of that.

Last weekend on parts of Hilton Head, I could not get a signal with my V60s.
Used my wife's StarTac 7868 with NO problem (has the 7797 stubby antenna).
Remarkable phone. Re-activated my VX4400, went back to many of those same
places, and no problem, even without the antenna extended. V60s ranks a bit
behind those 2 phones, based upon my experience.

They ran out of them. It was an accidental phone. They re-flashed the V60p
and sold it as the V60s when their PTT service failed to take off. The
theory is that they committed to a large volume of the V60p, and they had to
get rid of them. They didn't expect the V60s to be so popular. It's the good
speakerphone and good RF performance that created the demand for the V60s.

I believe that the Motorola phones are more costly than the LG or Samsung
phones. The PTT phones have to be more rugged, and the V60s/p is essentially
    of that genre.

It's a very good phone. The stub antenna isn't an issue, I don't know what
that guy that said that it was, was smoking. The guy in the next office from
me has the V60i with the extendable antenna, and it's got the same reception
with the antenna extended, as the V60s with the stub antenna. He goes
through antennas like crazy. But you can easily install an extendable
antenna on the V60s if you so desire, they cost about $8 and can simply be
    screwed in.

    > Will Motorola continue the V60 Line of CDMA Phones?

    Unknown.

    > What are the plans for the introductions of new models?

Unknown. Clearly Verizon isn't interested in selling handsets that are so
revenue limiting as the V60s, i.e. no "Get It Now," stuff. Like all
carriers, they know that the key to higher ARPU, is in selling stuff like
photo sending, web browsing, ring-tones, etc., or as it's known in the
    industry "WAOs" (worthless add-ons).

The V60 user is primarily interested in using the phone as a phone. They are
higher educated and more affluent. If they're doing wireless web, their
using an 802.11 equipped PDA, or hooking the PDA to their phone. If they're
taking photos, they're using a Canon Digital Elph, or other small, high
quality camera. It they want a ring tone, they input it using a tool such as
Susteen Date Pilot, and send it to their phone.

This is probably due to an incorrect PRL or a different PRL.

No. They were on the same PRL. 50152 for the V60s and the VX4400. The
Startac is different, because not on ERI.

Same Issue I had with 2 of them I tried. I thought the 1st one must of
been defective, but the 2nd one too had very poor RF reception. I
would be sitting in a room a people at work and everyones phone,
including my moto 270c had a strong digital signal..and what was the
v60s doing? Searching in analog for a signal.
I would put my 270c and the v60s side by side in my basement, and go
into tight corners etc, and watch the v60s gradually loose bars of
reception until it went searching in analog, the whole time my 270c
had 3 bars and still could make a call.

I really wanted to keep the v60s but couldn't with that reception.
The kicker was... to get the v60s back into digital, even outside,
I'd have to turn the phone off, and remove the battery, then put it
back in, and turn it on..poof 4 bars of reception. Same exact issues
    on 2 different v60s's.
