    Eric:

I have the same problem. I think I've tried every permutation of comma,
space, upper case, lower case, whatever there is. I've even tried changing
the field names in the .dbf database from the default NAME, SURNAME, etc.
to FirstName, LastName and other combinations. If anyone has found a
solution to this problem, it would be much appreciated. AFAICT the full
name preferences in MPT have absolutely no effect on anything. Maybe it's a
phone thing. I'm on a tmo V-300. Does this feature work on other phones?
There must be a gigantic number of people using MPT. Someone else must have
tried to make this feature work on a Vxxx phone.

Re: Mobile Tools - lastname, Firstname?

I gave up. I exported my data from outlook to my phone. I created a new
phonebook, inported from the phone. Then I exported to a DBF, and changed
the column names, before re-importing into a new phonebook that I then
    sync'd

It works, I have the names in the order I like. But I lose the ability to
sync with outlook, the main reason i got bluetooth.

I also think that the mobile tools creates multiple entries, as opposed to
one entry with multiple phone entries.

I really don;t think DVRP or whomever cares.

If they had a reasonable software toolkit, I'd just do it myself. . .

Re: Mobile Tools - lastname, Firstname?

Interesting solution. Correct me if I'm wrong in my understanding, but are
you saying that you changed the display names in the .dbf so that the
SURNAME field is called "First Name" and the NAME field is called "Last
Name"? That one didn't occur to me.

I, too, find it hard to understand why BVRP can't just fix such a simple
problem. We're talking about 10 lines of code that probably have some sort
of "oops" in them. They went to all the trouble to put in the preferences
dialog and then, apparently, couldn't or didn't get it to work. The mind
    boggles....

Basically, yes. I just changed the field names and imported. There is a
mapping dialog when re-importing - you may not need to change the field
    names, just remap the fields.

I have lots of experience with bad software, so this workaround was natural
    to me. .

I hope it is fixed eventually. Not holding my breath.
