I have read that a Motorola V400 can play MP3 ringtones. Is this true? I
have a data cable and software that I use to upload/download pics, games and
midi ringtones, but I have yet to find a way to upload MP3 ringtones with
the cable. Could someone just tell me what software will allow me to send
    MP3s to the phone?

BTW it is a Cingular V400 that I purchased in Late February.

    Thanks,

    Redwing

You can do it with Mobile Phone Tools 2.20. Just drag and drop the MP3
    to the audio folder.

    Re: V400 Ringtone

Mobile Phone Tools 2.2 works just fine for uploading mp3 files to the V400
phone I have (Cingular is my carrier also.). You will want to edit your mp3
files down to a reasonable size, length and quality that works best. I have
up loaded 30 second clips of 128kbps mp3 files and they work great but are
about 300K files which means they will quickly eat up the limited memory in
your phone if you put many in.

Nero Wave editor works well for cropping mp3 files. I haven't really looked
yet but want to find an editor that will let me take a 128kbps file and
reduce the quality so I can experiment with finding the best compromise
between file size and sound quality for the ring tones.

BTW the Mobile Phone Tools will allow you to upload pictures to your phone
also. You will have to edit the picture files to find the best compromise
between picture quality & file size. Also since Cingular insists on putting
their Name, Date, and Clock in the picture window you'll need to experiment
with editing the picture so it displays the way you like. My first picture
of my granddaughter had Cingular and the Date running through her head.
After a little editing I was able to make her head appear farther down in
the window to avoid the text. I wish Cingular would change that. You should
be able to turn the clock and date off if you chose and I don't need a
reminder on my screen as to who my carrier is, they remind me every month
    with a bill.
