I presently have the T720 and a floor mounted hands free kit in my car
(microphone, speaker and pedestal mount). The V60* (the one I was
looking at is the V60p from Verizon) has a very similar power plug,
antenna jack but they seem to be not quite the same, that is T720
    config and the V60.

Does anyone know if a new cradle(head) is all that is needed to make
the V60 work in the setup I have with the t720?

    Thanks.

Yes, I did exactly that -- I purchased the new Hang Up Cup (aka cradle) from
    VZW.

    Select Motorola and then V60p.
