Anyone help at all?

I bought this phone with original SIM that was issued with yet when I put
the SIM in it request an unlock code, the previous owner hasn't changed the
unlock code and orange standard codes of 00000000, 1111111, 12345678,
01234567 etc won't work.

All I get is insert correct SIM, so I tried another Orange Sim and again
insert correct SIM, what am I doing wrong, Orange won't help as its a second
hand PAYG and I haven't the money for an unlock clip.

Is there any other codes? Or is there somewhere I can get a cheap unlock
clip or cable?, I actually like this little phone and want to keep it over
my Ericcson R380 World, am I mad

I can't get a reliable signal on any of the services yet when it powers up
it shows a healthy signal on Orange however as soon as I dial out the signal
drops dead.
