Basically as the title says, I've got a v600 and a motorola data cable
and phone tools. Have installed phone tools and tried to connect to
my phone but to no avail, it doesn't bring up a picture of the v600 on
the screen, just a generic motorola phone and can't detect it either.
The first time i installed phone tools i already had the phone
connected (having not read the instructions) would this be a problem?
I uninstalled it and started again but it didn't work. Google
mentioned a usbcdc.cat file that was missing on the first edition
windows 98 that may be needed so I've found that now but i don't know
the source directory for this to work (or even if it will).

I tried it on my dad's pc (running xp) and it worked like a charm, no
problems at all, will phone tools and the usb connection not work on
the older pc's running win 98 first edition?

Would a bluetooth dongle enable me to use it?

    Any help is appreciated

    cheers

    David

I have the same problem with my v300, except that it doesn't work on
98 or XP. I get the generic phone, and it says that no modem is
installed - except that if I go to the device manager, it's definitely
    there :-(

Re: Phone tools and windows 98 (first edition) won't connect to V600 via data cable

Win 98 has limited USB support, in the instructions somewhere it will say
Win98SE or newer to support full USB connectivity. I have TrueSync from my
old v60 (works nicely) but I can't find the driver to make it work with my
v600. It recognizes the phone then wants to load a driver I don't have. Any
    ideas?

    Thanks,

    Mike
