Hi
I have a new v300 and usb cable (from tangshop.com) - no matter what I
do, I cannot get it to connect to my pc. I've tried various drivers,
various versions of mobile phone tools, I've tried it on 98 and XP,
all with no luck. Generally I get a generic phone image in mpt, and
it says "no modem installed".
I hope I'm leaving out some simple step. Could some kind please help
out by providing a detailed dscription of what to do? I'm going nuts
here, and I'm just hoping it's not the cable.
Thanks - I'm really desperate, and don't know what else to try!

Did you install the software first as noted (in large block letters) before
you plugged in your V300 to the USB port?
If not go to remove programs and uninstall the software assigned to the V300
and start over.
If you plugged in the V300 before the software was installed the incorrect
driver will be installed.
Present Mobile Phone Tools version is 2.1 with a V3 upgrade available at the
BVRP home page.

You may also have to go to "device manager" and remove V300. I had the
same problem with my initial install and the only way for me to get a
clean install was for me to actually remove V300 from the "device manager".
To the original poster: This is one of those types of installs where
you NEED to follow the instruction to a T, or the whole thing will not work.
Good luck,

Yes, I was very careful to make sure I did :-) In fact, it did work
very briefly - I got the v300 image and backed up my phone book, but
couldn't transfer images or mp3s. After that, I kept getting "no
modem installed" errors when I tried to connect. It was after that
that I uninstalled everything and tried again (and tried on different
systems, with fresh installs) with no luck.

I used the demo version that came on the CD with the v300, so I would
assume that it was the correct version. I'll check on that, though.

Re: v300 usb connection
I've had the same problem. Restart the phone and change the driver to
one from
ftp://ftp.ealaddin.com/pub/hasp/new_.../Hinstall.zip.
Good luck!

Re: v300 usb connection
Thanks, I'll try that. I had it working, or at least I thought I did
- removed *everything* related to the phone from my XP drive,
reinstalled and it worked! Tried it again the next day, and it didn't
work no more :-( It really seems as though it only works the first
time after it's been installed, which doesn't really make much sense.
I'll try the driver you suggested, and see how that goes!
