There's a damned good reason Verizon doesn't carry more Nokia phones. Nokia,
for a long time, ignored CDMA while focusing on TDMA and GSM -- I recall a time
when just about every phone AT&T Wireless used to carry was a Nokia, for
example. Between the 2180/2170 and the 5185i was several years of absolute crap
masquerading as (a small number of) Nokia CDMA handsets. Sprint stopped selling
Nokia for a while, too.
I can't blame any CDMA carrier for hesitating to commit to selling lots of
Nokia models, although it seems Nokia may have finally Found Clue and gotten
their act together.

I'm pleased with the Audiovox 9500. Came out with the LG4400. Fine
Japanese phone with a few flaws. (Flat buttons, small external
dispaly, volume control inside phone, no side buttons) But the BEST
analog reception of any VZW handset and easy to read.
Hoping the 9900 still has great reception capabilities and flaws ppear
to be fixed. The display resolution is reported as stellar. Due out
around Sept 30-Oct 7.
Nokia 6015i comming soon too.

Correct. Nokia just had to "roll their own" cdma chips IIRC and they
teed off a lot of big cdma carriers in the process.
With the amazing RF capabilties of the 3585/3595i's perhaps they have
redeemed themselves, though Verizon seems to have relegated to using
Nokia as free or bottom line handsets. I even saw some new models on
SPCS...shock. So all must be well. If Nokia ever gets a chance (or an
order) to supply an upscale handset(flip), with the same top notch
digital RF, I still think they could write their own ticket.
Problem IMO, is Nokia gives too much away or controls accessories, sw,
ringtones and makes too many cheap/cross model accessories, so VZW
doesn't get to soak each new handset model buyer with oddball limited
channel release accessories. There's big money in all those extras and
Verizon likes to control every angle possible, associated with each
handset used on their network, which could produce additional revenue,
despite the hassles it causes consumers.
I think VZW likes Motorola because of the low prices, courtesy of
mainland Chinese gulag wages. The ability to buy at a cut rate prices,
along with the huge volumes Mot can supply, even though their crap
often comes out half baked, makes VZW a ready customer. Motorola
phones look good and work ok and Motorola figured out how important a
"professional" look is... why can't those other handset makers produce
a simple understated, adult design?
While Mot still manages to maintain a respectable name recognition
(how is beyond me) among users that don't seem to look any further
than a nicely designed facade, and where many suite types seem to fear
anything that doesn't match some uniformity of image and neck ties...
in a great yawn of uninspired conformity, a "professional" look, along
a misplaced faith in a long gone, USA Motorola quality and
dominence...the currant Motorola effluvia continues to sell.
Kinda like Bose speakers.
And the frequent bad phones are cheap to swap out.

It's not America my friend...it's Verizon Wireless. Other carrier's
(acutally all of them) don't cripple or disable hardware functions on any of
the phones they provide. Of course it was all done on purpose. Now that
everyone is actually doing the real R&D for this phone another model will

Re: Bottom Line...V710...Does this **** work or not?
Strange, i've been syncing with a USB cable and infrared when I was on AT&T
and Cingular for a long ass time. As you tell some one to "wait" for that
ability which actually should have been there in the first place is a
ridiculous thing. Needless to say, and unfortunately I'm back on Verizon
Wireless using the only phone I would allow myself to use. Their Nokia 3589i
model, which I can sync and transfer files just fine. There's no waiting for
me...but some one who spent hundreds of dollars on a phone will have to.
Doesn't make sense to me, but as usual everyone will disagree with me and
think spending a whole **** load of money and having to wait for a feature
to work (that should have when you bought it) is a normal thing.

Re: Bottom Line...V710...Does this **** work or not?
Nokia get their act together? They've had their act together for years of
course on other carriers such as of course GSM. While they've spent all
their millions on R&D for some of the best cellular phones in the world on
GSM Verizon wireless will only get Nokia's entry level models...which is
evident as you can see.

I rarely ever agree with anyone on here...but your response was very
accurate and smooth. I like to see educating bashing...which most people
don't like to do because they just live with the problems they have.
