I Have a question on these 4 types of USB data cables (are there more?)
    FutureDial
    Motorola
combined USB data cable & charger
    Generics (ebay etc)

    I have Motorola V400 using Windows98 (NOT Windows 98SE).

Will any USB Data Cable work with Windows 98? I do NOT have Windows98SE.
Although the sys requirements say Win98SE maybe some of you with plain
Windows98 have noticed the data cable works fine anyway? If so which data
cable do you have? I would like to be able to use all the softwares you guys
mention: MPT, Pk2Man,Midway, MSS, Seem Editing, etc... Thanks...

Well I do not know about 98, but I do know that Pk2Man will not work on
98se, so that pretty much kills any seem editing you want to do. I do not
imagine you having much problems using MPT, or Midway, or even PST on a '98
system. Though I would look into getting at least SE. I am sure you have
your reasons for using 98, but if you are going to be dicking with your
cell, you may want to use a more stable system, or maybe a system with a bit
more power then a '98 system might have. Be sure all the programs you want
to try work fine before you do anything delicate!

I use an oem moto usb cable of all the above, and I have bought 3 non-oem
cables from Ebay (eforcity) and all the cables work perfect on all the above
programs under XP, but llike I said before, P2Kman does not work on 98se, so
    will not work on 98.
