Cingular today adjusted its phone lineup and added the Motorola V551. The V551
is currently a Cingular exclusive, but is similar to other V series Motorola
phones. Here are some features:
* EDGE high-speed data
* VGA camera with video recording
* Bluetooth
* 65K color TFT display
* Speakerphone

Hmmmm, right after their Nov. 10 stuff they're doing for ATTWS customers?

One of Cingulars new techniques for gaining and retaining customers is
having "exsclusives" on cell phones.

now.

But its a higher priority with Cingular now. Up till now, most of the
phones they had were also available at ATTWS and TMobile, and in some
cases in CDMA versions with Sprint and Verizon.

Re: Motorola V551 launched by Cingular
So if you are an "AT&T" customer you won't be able to upgrade to this phone
unless you give up your AT&T plan and move to a "Cingular" plan? I really
hate to do that given the AT&T plans are better in my opinion. Perhaps we
will find out some more information on the 10th.

That is correct, and in some cases ( like Free 7 PM Nights) ATTWS plans
these days were better, but lately thats been offset by phones being
less costly at Cingular.

They sure do. They seem to get all the new phones, unlike my carrier,
T-Mobile.
I wish some of the phones on Cingular and ATTW were available on T-Mo. I
don't know that the carried handsets is a good reason to switch carriers
though. I get 1000 anytime minutes, and unlimited weekends on T-Mo for
$39.99 monthly, with free long distance and no roaming charges. Also, free
GPRS.
