I've been building a thread for a couple of days now to get help with
my Palm Tungsten T2 using my V551 as a modem. I think I've narrowed
the problem down to my setup string.

When I use the Network Dialer app (with the setup string), I get a
rising "disconnected" series of tones as soon as it start dialing.
Apparently when the V551 sees the setup string, it either converts all
    or part to a number.

I did notice what when I imported 1-888-4ONSTAR to my directory, it
    converted it to numbers (cool)

Now, when I use a regular dialer to dial a phone number for me from my
address book (no setup string), it works fine.

I tried to remove my setup string (blanking it out) from the network
dialer but the problem was still there.

    Thanks for reading this mishmash,
    John

That sounds like 'wrong phone number' tones.

Yes, it does. Like dialing 999999 or something. That's why I'm
thinking that the modem setup string is actually dialing through. Like
the phone doesn't realize it's a modem at all.
