I have installed a MSI dongle with widcom driver, the widcom driver shows to
be the one installed and I can see my phone on the computer.
(I read the earlier v500 thread and the general opinion seems to be to
install the widcom driver and nt use the MS driver)
I see 4 icons when I look at my 'bluetooth places'

    dial up gateway
    voice gateway
    OBEX file transfer
    OBEX object push

I was most interested in transfering my pics from phone to computer, I
assume they would be in the OBEX file transfer folder. I dont see them. In
fact when I try to connect or open that folder a windows error report and
program close is generated from explorer.
Do I need the dedicated motorola tools software as well as what was provided
    with the dongle?

The other 3 icons work fine,
OBEX object push seems to be for exchanging busines cards???? (dont really
know what thats about, usefull in busines I guess.)
internet gateway, (youd have a company provided phone to use that, or win
the lottery, or can I connect via gprs, I dont see a way, once again maybe
    with the motorola tools software)
voice gateway, yes I can see that being usefull

sorry if I ramble on a bit but any advice or help will be greatly
    appreciated.
    regards

If all is well when you click the OBEX file transfer you should see 3
folders; audio, pictures and video. Clicking on a folder should show you
all the files on the phone which you can then transfer to your PC or
vice versa. You can also use MPT for this.
The OBEX object push is quite useful for uploading games to the phone.
Just drag the desired .jar file onto the 'push' icon and the game will
transfer to your phone and install itself. You canNOT do this with MPT!

thanks for the explanation, it seems I have a windows problem as explorer
wont connect to the OPEX file transfer folder, only the other three, maybe
if I reload the driver, possibly system restore then load. I'll keep
    plugging away at it though.
You dont happen to know if theres a way to access the internet via gprs?

    Thanks again

I get that error with my V600 too... when you`ve paired the phone up, the
only way I could get it to work (IIRC) was to view each picture and "send
to" or "copy" and i`d be able to get them off that way. Not elegant, but
    it worked for me :-}

Pretty much limited to WAP sites. TMo has blocked port 80.
