My V3 plugs in fine with a USB cord to my computer, but doesn't charge. Do
I need to add software to my computer to be able to charge the V3 from my
    PC?

Does your phone claim to be able to charge from the USB port? On most
phones, the power connector is different from any data connector.

Though the Treos could charge through the USB with the appropriate cable.

If your phone supports charging through the USB cable, then you wouldn't
need any special software on the PC, just supported USB ports.

Wrong! The V3 does need the drivers installed to charge from the USB port.

Install the software you got with your V3 and it'll charge fine.

    Officially from Motorola:

\"THE PHONE MUST BE TURNED ON TO CHARGE VIA A USB CONNECTION TO A
    COMPUTER.

IF THE BATTERY IS DEAD OR HAS A VERY LOW CHARGE, YOU MUST USE THE
PHONE'S TRAVEL CHARGER TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY. YOU CANNOT USE A
USB-CABLE CONNECTION TO CHARGE A WEAK OR DEAD PHONE BATTERY.\"

    I hope this helps!
