My MPT was certainly NOT free; I had to pay $50 for it!

You certainly overpaid. You can buy it on ebay for about 10 bucks.

Re: Motorola support (or lack of) and buggy MPT

    Hi there,

Well, I've been trying to get the synchronizing (or even transferring)
of my contacts from Outlook 2002 (english) though MPT v3.23 (english)
to my Motorola A780 (english). But MPT keeps messing up my contacts
all the time. It even oversees whole categories of contacts from
Outlook and keeps messing up home and office addresses. I've tried
different intstallations, I've tried different mappings apart from the
default, nothing works. I'd say it sucks. Especially for a phone
Motorola claims to be a business phone (sic).
I must say I managed to get the agenda synchronizing to work properly
after having installed the English version of MPT.

So, Motorola doesn't have things up to par at all. Let's leave it
there.... Don't want to spend energy more on the subject as both
Motorola and BPVR with their MPT have taken it all....

The best place you can look for answers concerning MPT is BVRP support
forum. It is quite dpressing though.
