I just got a Motorola v551 gsm phone. It was bought from the US, it cost
nearly 300 bucks because it was supposed to be used only in Europe, without
Cingular or any other American operator. I guess that should be ok, but
after I had successfully entered my Finnish pin-code, the damn machine asked
for 'subsidiary password' or something like that. How can I get that number?
From the store or from the Cingular?? I'm not going to travel to Fla in the
    near future...
I'd be grateful for any advice.

Sounds like you have a locked phone - meaning locked to Cingular or
whoever provided it. Here's one place to start - there are many others
    too.

if you bought your phone from Cingular
you can send in your request to this address

    [email protected]

send them your IMEI and give a damn good reason why you should
    get the SIM unlock code

or you could tell that you spent 300 smackers for your phone

    Hey, thanks!
It was bought from a QuickLinq store. I don't know if the chain is somehow
affiliated with Cingular. A damn could reason could be that with intention
of using Cingular connection the phone would have cost remarkably less...
But I'm going to use a Finnish operator.8-(
