I just got a v550 and the problem is it interferes with my home theatre
system. my old v600 used to cause interference on my stereo system only
when a call would be coming in. the v550 interferes even when there are
no calls incoming. it seems like the phone sends out or receives a
signal every so often and when it does, my stereo goes a little nutz.

has anyone had a similar problem?

    thanks

All of my nextel phones have done this...pretty much to anything with a
speaker. Although when it does do it (with no call active), the
interference is very brief. Maybe a tick or 3.

Have you tried placing the phone further away from the equipment?

    Won't help!!

A cell phone has a transmitter. When the tower communicates with the phones
in the area, the phone's transmitter comes on and answers the tower, you get
a buzz in your speakers. When you get an incoming call the phone answers
the tower first and you get another buzz even larger than the other, then
your phone rings. The buzz is simply the transmitter on the phone "talking"
to the tower. The only cure is to move the phone further away from the
    speakers.

My opinion on the phone is always Motorola.

Or get a CDMA phone. All TDMA protocols (IS-136, iDEN, GSM) transmit in
pulses (turning the transmitter on/off many times per second), and this
is what causes this kind of interference. When a CDMA phone is
transmitting, it is transmitting continuously across a fairly wide
    frequency band.
