I noticed that my little PC speakers at work started making a strange
noise occasionally - after I started wearing this phone all the time.
It would last a second or two and be a couple of static-like noises or
chirps. It doesn't even matter if the volume is turned all the way
off. I haven't tried turning off the power but I will now. It's hard
    to prove a negative though.

Now a coworker has pointed out that his speakers make the same noise,
only when I'm in the room. Very weird. It doesn't happen often, maybe
a few times a day or sometimes not at all. But still, it is odd and
does appear to be related to the phone.

Anyone know any mechanism that could explain this?

This question has been asked (and responded to) on this newsgroup at least
a half-dozen times in the last 3 months. You are hearing your telephone
transmitting periodically as it checks in with the nearby tower. Your phone
is a radio transmitter, and GSM data transmitted is such that it can be receivedby unshielded nearby electromagnetic devices.

Thanks for answering for the 7th time then. But I always scan before
asking questions and no headers with "noise" or "speaker" appeared. In
fact my ISP has messages back to 2003 for this group and I scanned
    them all.

But at least I know now that it is the phone.

forte might allow a search of headers and bodies, so many people use
stupid nodiscript subjects that searching headers (subject) is kinda
    useless these days.
