Someone sends me a text - there doesn't seem to be an easy way to reply to
them. Am I missing something obvious? Is it really necessary to go through
all the send menus from scratch?

Also is there a shortcut to the 'send new message' option without several
    levels of menus first?

    Thanks group

Re: V3 how do I reply to a text message

When I read a text msg on my v3 I see the word "REPLY" in the lower
right corner above the softkey. Pressing the softkey takes me to the
reply screen to enter my reply.

To access Text msg easily, I press the key right above the "End" key -
the with the icon of an envelope on it - which take me to the messaging
screen where the first item is "Create Message." You can also create a
shortcut key for that but it won't save you any time as it's 2 buttons
either way. Yo could however assign "Create Message" to a dedicated
softkey for one button access. All this is more fully explained in your
    manual.

    Thanks Bruce I'll try that.
V3 doesn't seem as 'automatic or natural' as some phones - but what a
    looker!

It's highly "customizable" though so, with a little time up front, you
can make it work the way you like. Of course, I've used nothing but
Motorola phones for the last 20 years so I'm used to how they operate.
(I did have a Nokia once for a few months but I hated the thing).

When I receive a text message my soft keys show BACK or DELETE can I change
    them so I get REPLY?

Hmm, must be set differently for US models ( assume you're in UK from
email addr). You would probably have to edit the "seems" to change that
as I can't find any way to do it otherwise.

My V3 shows the same two soft keys. But low and behold there is a middle
soft key. Which when pressed gives you numerous options, one of which is
reply. BTW if you see a symbol on the screen between what you call the 2
soft keys pressing below it (the middle soft key) opens another option
menu. I hope that all made sense as it's easier to show someone than it
    is to explain it.

Could be provider-dependant, as my UK V3 came with the same softkey
options as yours (Back and Reply).
