    Hi,

Just bought a V3 Black and so far am impressed with the phone, despite
initial frustration. I am still going through it trying to set up all the
features. The reason for these frustrations is that the manual has to be
the worst I have ever come across; there is simply no mention of how to set
up many of the features. If anyone can answer any of the following
questions then I would be extremely grateful:

    1. Despite having a GPRS enabled SIM card (via Orange) the phone simply
will not connect via GPRS. Does anyone know how to get GPRS to work?

    2. I wish to import my Contacts and Calendar from Outlook into the phone.
I have finally got MBT to see the phone (using version 3.23L) but cannot
synchronize these items. The Help menu from within MBT states that I should
select File | Import but the Import option simply doesn't exist. Can anyone
tell me how to import these items?

    3. When I've imported photos (via Bluetooth from my old phone) many of
the images wouldn't open and I got a message stating that the image couldn't
be opened because it was too large. The reference to size seemed to be
concerned with physical dimensions rather than file size as when I resized
some to be very small e.g. around 2cm by 1.6 cm they were displayed.
There's no reference to image size limitations in the manual; does anyone
know what they are? I assumed that if the pixel dimensions were smaller
than the resolution of the images taken by the camera then all would be fine
but this simply isn't the case.

More questions as I encounter more problems but thanks in advance for all
    assistance offered.

    Regards

    Alan

I was amazed at how much is missing from the V3 manual. It's more like
a 'Quick Start' guide than a proper user manual.

    I'll try, but (a) I'm on O2 rather than Orange and (b) I've probably
forgotten some vital hoop I had to jump through when setting my V3 up!
    Anyway try this....

Menu-WebAccess-Web Sessions. Highlight 'Orange' and press the menu
button (the one between the soft keys). Select 'edit' and verify
settings (especially the GPRS APN) and enter the username and password
if required. When finished press 'Done', then press 'Launch' and see
if the phone connects to the Orange portal. If it does then
'Menu-WebAccess-Web Sessions-Orange-<menu> and select 'Set Default'.
Thereafter you should connect via GPRS whenever the phone initiates a
    web session.

Try using 'Setup-Synchronization Settings' from the MPT menu. I had
real bother with earlier versions of MPT not detecting the Outlook PST
file but it all came good with a recent update and all my Outlook data
is now available to sync via MPT.

I've imported images up to 1600x1280 pixels to the phone but none
larger than 640x480 will display. The 'Zoom' options make no
difference, so it would seem that 640x480 is a physical limitation of
    the phone.

You could use 'Mobile Explorer' to move the oversized image from phone
to PC, then use 'Image Studio' to transfer it back to the V3 in a
    displayable format.

I hope I've been of some help. My experience (such as it is) has been
gained from pure trial and error, so the usual disclaimers apply. <g>

Sorry to thread jack, I have just upgraded to a V3, my friend is on O2
I'm on Orange. A large number of menu items are missing from my phone.
(e.g customising home keys function, turn on bluetooth permanently
etc.) after Phoning Orange (lol!) they informed me that all providers
have their own menu structures. Maybe this is why youre having
    problems?

Also does anyone know if its possible to unloc these extra menu
    items??

    Cheers
