Are you using a Motorola OEM cable with Mobile phone tools? If that is
not a OEM Mobile Phone Tools will not talk to the phone using the
    cable.

    Doesn't the V3 use a "standard" mini-USB cable?
I have a Motorola V220. I used the cable from my camera to connect it to
the PC. I see some comments about poor quality cables, but I don't think
there is anything special about the Motorola cable.

Browse around the Mobile phone tools forum at BVRP.com. They don't have
very good support pages. They prefer to answer the questions in the forum
and leave them in that ragged format.

The most important thing for me was to use Live Upgrade after installing
Mobile Phone Tools before trying to recognize the phone.

    Install Mobile Phone Tools 3.11.
    http://www.bvrp.com/customers/motorola/upgrade/US/
Skip phone detection until after LiveUpdate.
Create a new profile of some name, and select it as the default.
Visit the menu, setup, invoke LiveUpdate. (3.25b 4/8/2005)
    Restart and configure the phone.

It might also be that there is another set of the USB drivers already
installed. I'm not positive, but I think I caused some problems for myself
by plugging in to a different USB port on my system, giving me two
different USB modems, one connected now, the other not connected, with the
wrong one configured in Mobile Phone Tools.

If you press f6 in Mobile Phone Tools, you can reconfigure which modem it
    is trying to connect to.

    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=315539
tells you how to find devices that are configured but not currently
connected. With the phone _not_ connected, use this process, and delete
all of the modems and ports that look like they are your phone.
    http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=2146 shows examples, although
they are deleting a bluetooth confusion. The idea is the same.

    You might browse through
Motorola V551 Bluetooth Mobile Phone Tools
http://makeashorterlink.com/?W39E65F8B to see which steps apply to you.

OK, I think my Problem is solved. Afer I made a Live Upgrade for mobile
Phone tools there wasn't a problem left. Mobile Tools is now able to
    connect with my V3...

    Thank you for your answers.

    Kaan Vatansever.
