I was wondering about the customization options of the screen for my
v220.
I want to have more screen real estate on the main screen for the
phone. I was wondering if there was a way to get the phone to NOT
display the lower menu bar. I never use it, and quite frankly, it's in
the way.

I'm talking about the menu bar that in this picture says "Exit" &
"Select". On the main screen it says "Camera" & "IM". I know what
comes up there, and I'd far prefer to not have that menu bar there at
all.
But I can't find a way to have it not displayed. Is there a way at
all? If so, I'd appreciate some help with that. Thanks.

Those are labels for the two "soft" keys, and are important to have because
soft key functions change depending on context.

Re: v220 Main screen
That menu bar is essential because it displays the soft key functions
in all operation screens as well as indicating availability of the
menu key function. Are you aware that you can change the two home
screen soft key functions and the icon/function selections that are
activated by the four cursor keys?
While in the home screen, hit the Menu key (top center), then select:
Settings/Personalize/Home Screen/Home Keys
In that list you will find settings for all of the four cursor keys
and the two soft keys. All of those can be customized.
For example, my home screen soft keys are set to Date Book (left soft
key) and Alarm Clock (right soft key). I have the four cursor keys set
to Phone Book, Messaging, Settings, and Tools. I dumped the Camera
soft key because there is already a Camera key on the side of the
phone.

Re: v220 Main screen
I'm aware of what they are. But I know what they do on teh various
screens they show up on. However, their use on the main screen is of
no value to me.
I'd rather use that screen for my wallpaper.
I take it they're non turnoffable, then?
