Is there a way to play mp3's in the Motorola v262, mainly as
ringtones?. I tried downloading mp3's with the extension changed to
mid but they don't work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. TIA.

    Re: MP3's in the v262

Alltel had the V262 and V265 crippled so you can not directly load an
MP3 file to the phone and play it. You will get the "file corrupt"
message. However, there is a workaround and it works quite well. First
you must convert the MP3 to a WAV file. There are free tools available
on-line that can do that. You can then use the Windows sound recorder
accessory to edit the WAV file to the correct length, if necessary.
Finally you use the free Yamaha utility referenced in the link below to
convert the WAV to a MMF file. Rename the MMF file to MID and copy it
to your V262. You can play it and use it as a ring tone.

I forgot to mention... the method I outlined above works for Alltel and
Verizon V260 / V262 / V265 Motorola phones. It does not work for Telus
versions of the same phones. I don't know about versions for other
    carriers.
