I almost bought a 512MB trans flash card for my phone yesterday, but
passed on it to make sure it will work first. I saw on Phonescoop that
the phone can use up to a 256MB card. The documentation that came with
the phone is useless in this regard, and so is moto's web site as from
what I can tell. Can anyone verify that the phone will only work with
    up to a 256MB card?

Motorola's site lists a 512 MB flash card as an available accessory
for the E815. I think the limitation you found was published before
TF cards were available in sizes bigger than 256 MB, therefore they
couldn't test it with a shipping product to say it was compatible. I
    imagine it'll work though.

I have the 512 card and use it for MP3's no real problems.
First i had a 128 card and loved the mp3 with motorola stereo head
phones and quickly upgraded to 512 to hold 120 songs.
I have had a few instances of no service while listening with the 512
card but don't think it was related to the the bigger card.
I checked with moto tech and they said it does support the 512 card
