Someone I know has a V220 and can't find the manual and is wondering
what the little cup of tea icon is on the outer screen, can anyone
help?
Cheers

It's a cup of coffee, and it means you are running a Java app.

Wooo, hate coffee so just as well it's not my phone! ;-)
Can you explain anything else Mike? Any idea what may be running?
Cheers

A program, probably a game, is running and is probably suspended, or paused.
If the 220 has a similar menu structure as my phone (the 330) then go to
"Games and Apps" and it will give you the option to end the application.
"Java" and the coffee cup are company trademarks --

Java Apps or Applets show up on the top row of the internal screen as a
coffee cup. I don't think that shows up on the external screen, though.
Never looked.
Java apps are often games, some included with the phone.
There are some other Java downloadable tools, including the Yahoo and AIM
Instant Messenger, Google Maps, and Opera Mini web browser.
These are all considered "games" in the phone hierarchy (menu-games-apps).
Sometimes I see the Java cup after some web browsing, without deliberately
invoking a Java applet. That coffee cup seems to stay, especially if I get
interrupted by loss of signal, or just closing the flip, instead of exiting
the browser.
I have a v220, but don't use it for browsing any more. My comments are for
the v551, which has a very similar interface.
