I just got a Razr V3 and am having trouble getting it to work with
    Mobile PhoneTools...

It doesn't automatically detect my phone and then when I select to
search for it through my USB cable, it still can't seem to find it even
though my laptop acknowledges it's connected. So none of the menu
features work and the display on the program just reads 'Please
    wait...'

It's probably something really obvious and stupid, but it's got me
completely confused. I'd be really grateful for any help anyone can
    offer me!

    Thankyou!

Did you plug in the phone to the PC before installing MPT? If so, you
have to go into Device Manager and delete every driver installed for the
phone and start over. See www.bvrp.com for details.

This sounds like you've plugged the USB adapter into different USB ports on
your PC, leaving you with multiple comm ports configured in Windows.
For ease of use, you need to always plug USB devices into the same port on
    the PC.

Also, look under control panel phones and modems, and see if there are
multiples. Verify that the diagnostic there can actually query the modem.

WinXP? Did you connect the phone and let WinXP install bad drivers before
you loaded Mobile Phone Tools and their drivers?

On the FAQ page for BVRP
    http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=3966
The driver installation tool listed in 4) will install the usbser.sys
driver file from Windows 2000 (which does not exhibit the incompatibility)
for use with Motorola phones on Windows XP.

    http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=234 is another helpful
thread. This one comes in handy if you plug your phone into different USB
ports on the PC... You should stay with one port.

http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=2510 is a thread about USB
and the Razr. Same recurring theme, though. The drivers need to be loaded
"correctly", and some USB modem devices might need to be removed in device
    manager.

    Re: Mobile PhoneTools Trouble

    Try this:

    1. In Mobile Phone Tools go to General Setup
    2. Go to the Communication Tab
    3. Click on Change Modem
    4. Click Next
    5. Make sure Motorola USB Modem is highlighted and click Next
    6. Check the box for Do not Automatically Detect and click Next
    7. On the left side choose Motorola GSM and on the right side choose
    your model and click Next
    8. Click Finish
    9. Click OK out of the General Setup
