MPT has released a beta version 4.04 that claims to solve a LOT of the
connectivity problems people are reporting. I installed it tonight and
it is a much smoother interface and phone detection was automatic using
Bluetooth.
To get the beta you need to follow the instructions at
www.howardforums.com. In short you need to do the following:
1. Download a short utility from
http://pellaeon.com/ChangeMasterID.zip.
2. Open your current install of MPT and run Live Update to get or
ensure you have 3.28.
3. With 3.28 running, run the utility - you won't see anything happen
but that's OK.
4. Run Live Update again and you will be offered version 3.30. Install
it and reboot.
5. After the reboot a screen will pop up telling you to click finish to
start MPT. Do that.
6. When MPT starts Live Update will run and ask you if you'd like to
update to 4.04. Accept it.
7. MPT 4.04 will now load and install - it takes about 5 minutes.
Follow the prompts to finish and start the new version.

Re: Mobile Phone Tools New & Improved Version 4.04
Run 3.30 and manually run Live Update (click menu button on phone
graphic to find it). That should take you to the 4.04 download.

And why should I trust pallaeon.com? Who is that?
What MasterID does it want to change?
I don't think I'll be running any unidentified software.
Help-about said I was at 3.25b, so I did a manual LiveUpdate, which found
3.28. I installed that, did a sync, and then did a LiveUpdate, which found
3.30. I installed that, and on first launch, it did a version check, and
is now downloading 4.04.
The 3.30 to 4.04 upgrade is 52MB. I didn't notice what the others were.
Maybe they have added an auto-LiveUpdate with 3.30

Re: Mobile Phone Tools New & Improved Version 4.04
If you could do it without the file that's great. When I did it last
night without it, Live Update told me I was up to date with 3.28 and did
not find 3.30 till I ran the downloaded utility. The link for the file
came from BVRP and the Master ID being changed is the one in MPT. Maybe
today they decided to open it up to all IDs and don't require it
anymore. In any case, I'm glad you were able to get the new version.

Even after looking at the Howard forum, it wasn't clear that the link came
directly from someone at BVRP, although text like "we want to" would imply
that was the case.
I'm glad it did the update with the standard installed tool. Maybe that
did change last night. 52MB, though... yikes. and
upgrade/restart/upgrade/restart. Can't we do one upgrade?
And why is there _nowhere_ on the BVRP.com site that says what the latest
release is?

It's killed me, I have to go back to an earlier version. To allow my
hacked phone to download pictures into my computer I have to manually
tell it my phone is an E815M rather than an E815 and it seems that
manually defining the phone is no longer possible or, if it is, I sure
can't find it...
Is there some way to fix this or must I back up to an earlier version?

I searched the forum, it appears there's no way to manually install a
phone.

Re: Mobile Phone Tools New & Improved Version 4.04
I done liveupdate 3 times - on windows xp with sp1, xp with sp2 and
windows 2003. On both xp i didn't have any problems and didn't need any
programs. But on 2003 when i install 3.25b, run live update it update
to 3.28. Once more update and there is information that i install to
3.30. But after restart i have all the time 3.28 and running live
update there is information there is no avaible any download. The
program is not helping at all. Maybe there is any other idea what to
do?
Best regards
