razr v3c ringtones with tools v4 won't play

I purchased motorola phone tools v4, I can connect to my phone upload and
download OK.
But everything I put on my phone can only be viewed or listened to in
folders I can't use pictures for wallpaper and I can't use mp3s or wavs as
ring tones.
Any Idea what I'm doing wrong do I need to change the file type?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Any links to info are good too, I don't mind reading and figuring thing out.
I'm on Telus Mobile.

Telus & Verizon block the ability to use any ringtones that you don't
buy from them. You can get around it by reading here:

I now have my own ringtunes in my razr, a little reading and a little
playing with settings and I'm smiling.
