    Greetings,

I just put in the 512 MB translfash card into my A1000.

The card is in. The memory manager doesn't show it, it just shows the
internal memory. However, if I go to the "files" icon, it does show a
    card.

There is an option to format the card, but it says "everything on disk
will be deleted" which I don't know if it refers to memory card,
internal memory, the SIM or all three.

Anyone installed and formatted a transflash card in a mobile device
    before? (I'm using Symbian).

Since I'm asking, I'm curious as to what kind of nice software is out
there to maximize the use of smartphones.

    thx,

    Will from Washington DC

    "Madrox"

NORMALLY if you format the card, it would only format the memory card
(transflash), so the phone recognises it, and puts it's "guidance/guidence?"
    files on the card.

    That's the NORM.

As an example. My sister bought an N70 (Nokia). Whenever she tried to access
the media files, the results were that the phone would just flip back to the
main menu, and not access the media.

Formatted the card, in the phone. Et Voila. All now accessed okay.

    Good luck.

You can safely format the memory card - the warning refers to the
external memory card, not the internal memory in the phone.

As you now have a memory card in your A1000, you might want to use
nopEX to install applications on it: http://www.nop.at/nopex

Also have a look at Vibor http://www.nop.at/vibor
    and nopCon http://www.nop.at/nopcon

    Cheers,
