Unable to enter email address in text messages. Help?

Hi,

I have a moto v60g, and am unable to enter any letters in the "To"
portion of the text message creation screen. I have the input method set
to Tap, but it will only let me enter numbers. This also means that I
can't get any on-demand alerts such as weather, stock quotes, etc. Any
ideas how to fix this?
