AllofMP3 allows you to d/l up to CD quality at a slightly higher price
(pennies more). Although some self proclaimed guardians of other peoples
gates claim that ALLofMP3 is "patently unlawful" nobody has shut them
down or sued people for using their service. I pay for what I buy and
they claim to be paying lawful royalties so I sleep just fine. In my
case, 90% of the stuff I d/l is stuff that I've already purchased on
record, tape or CD over the years and it's just easier to d/l the songs
I want for a dime apiece than fumble with all old stuff. So, in
essence, I paying the artist a bonus for buying the same song twice.

So it's alright to steal from your ATM account as long as the withdrawals
    are less than $10?

Except in the case of ALLofMP3 you're not stealing anything. You are
paying for it. Just because they don't charge as much as Apple and
others reaping huge profits (not huge royalties for the artists) doesn't
make them "unlawfull" which is why they're still in business.

According to yesterday's Sunday Times (London) the Performing Rights people
are going to court this week to get AllofMP3 shut down.

You mean, of course, that they are going to TRY to get it shut down.
Without the cooperation of the Russian government it won't happen.
