I've seen similar problems reported here and elsewhere, but haven't had
    any luck finding the solution.

My Motorola RAZR V3x can be seen by other bluetooth phones, but I
cannot see any phones with Bluetooth. The other phones have bluetooth
    turned on and are discoverable.

They see me, and they register with me, and they show up in the
Bluetooth Found Devices page, and they can send me files.

However, if I go to Audio Devices and do Look For Devices, I find
    nothing.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

    Try looking under Handsfree devices.

sorry not sure what you mean by that. Do you mean try 'Use Bluetooth'
when a mp3 file is playing and see if it connects that way? Since I did
try that, and it doesn't see the other phone (nor my laptop, which also
has Bluetooth) - so not sure if there is something additionally I need
    to configure on the phone.

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

Try to get your link within TWO steps !

    1. Starting with your PC, using the normal BT program, select "add a
    peripheral equipment".
You should locate and see your MotoV3 (providing you switched on the BT
    power and the visibility option)

1.1 Then you will have to connect the MotoV3, using an access key or a
    password.
This operation could be quite long (several seconds), and be patient
    up to see your PC
acknowledging the connection. (MotoV3 will freeze during this time)
(At this moment you could check in your MotoV3 that the PC is
    registered, ie
    setting, connections, bluetooth, Equipment history...)
And you could close the windows assistant program .

    2. Now the second step !
Choose a pix or any file to transfert toward your PC.
Highlight the file, then in the menu, choose to move or to copy this
    file.

2.1 Now, you have to click the small BT icon on the PC bottom screen, and to
    select "receive a file"
and you will have a windows indicating the PC is waiting a connection
    from another partner !

2.2 Back to the MotoV3, then when asked for phone or bluetooth, select BT.
At transmission, select the name of your PC as destinator !

2.3 Both equipment will connect and the transfert will start...
On the PC, save your file where you need it.

Finaly, power off the MotoV3 BT, to save the battery.

Well, now you have a method, you can play both way, and I let you
    discovering how to load
something to your MotoV3 (music, pix, game, and so on)

    Regards, JP C

    Hi,

Many thanks for the response! However, i am still having trouble. This
    part -

    > 1.1 ...
    > (At this moment you could check in your MotoV3 that the PC is
    > registered, ie
    > setting, connections, bluetooth, Equipment history...)

my problem remains that in the V3X, in the Bluetooth Link menu, (the
one that has 'Find Me', 'Audio Devices', 'Found Devices' and 'Setup'),
if I look under 'Found Devices', I DO see my laptop (Windows XP).
However, if I click on 'Audio Devices' and 'Look for Devices' then my
V3X finds nothing. Also, if I select a picture to transfer, and select
'Use Bluetooth' and then once again it looks for devices and finds
    nothing.

Sorry this is my first Bluetooth phone so perhaps I am missing some
obvious step - but I tried with both my laptop and a Siemens phone, and
my Motorola V3X could find neither, but both could see me, and transfer
    files to me.

Why do I see the laptop and the Siemens phone under 'Found Devices',
but when I search via 'Audio Devices' I see nothing?

Thank you again for the help.

Click on the laptop under Found Devices and it should ask you if you
want to bond or pair with that device. Click OK and follow the
procedure. Once bonded or paired it will work. Audio Devices will only
    show headsets, etc.

ok here is what I am doing. please bear with me. so - I click on 'Found
Devices' - it shows me the name of the laptop. I highlight the name,
and if I click 'Options' my only option is to 'Delete'. If I go back to
the name of the laptop, and click on the circle button, I get 'Device
Details', with name, type (Miscellaneous), Access (Always Ask) and
Access Settings (all of which are Always Ask). not sure where I should
go so that it asks me to bond with the laptop - the laptop initiated
the connection with my phone so I bonded that way, I think?

anyway, but if I go to an mp3 file or a movie file, then select 'use
bluetooth', the only thing that comes up is 'Look For Devices' - the
laptop doesn't appear in that list. oddly, 'use bluetooth' is not an
option with the pictures, those I can only send in a message, i think.

Anyway, as you can see, I am a bit clueless about all this so please
forgive if there was some basic step I have neglected.

    Thank you for your help.

Try clicking Look For Devices but make sure the Laptop is in a
    discoverable mode.

=======> Perfect, if you get your V3 mentionned in "Found Devices"
Now, don't fool with 'Audio devices', this is to connect
    for say a headset.

=======> At this point, you have to ARM your PC in order to be ready
    for transfert.
And there should be a little gymnastic between PC and V3
    !
    1. Go to PC BT menu and press " receive file" (or
    something
equivalent, as my PC is in french langage, and do not
    know
    the exact wading in US).
    2. Back to V3 to continue...

Never got easy BT connection with Moto equipment. Generally they
only initialize a one way contact (outbound) and you have to force
the other way on the paired equipment.

Of course. But if you try to attach any BT headset, tou will ! ! !

    Have luck, regards. JP C

Re: RAZR V3x - not seeing other phones via bluetooth

    Guys,

Thanks for the patient help. I've gotten a bit further.

First - the laptop is in discoverable mode - at least I think it is. It
is Windows XP, and when I right click on the bluetooth icon, I select
'Enable Bluetooth Radio'. Not sure if there is anything more I need to
do to make the laptop discoverable.

    > 1. Go to PC BT menu and press " receive file" (or

ok this was helpful - on my XP laptop I have 'Bluetooth Information
Exchanger' - that has 'File Transfer', 'Image Transfer', and 'Object
Push'. If I go to 'File Transfer', and then 'Audio' I see audio files
that are in the phone memory (note - oddly I do not see files that are
on the memory card! Is that expected?)

So - this way I could transfer files from phone to laptop.

However, it would still be nice to transfer files from the phone - for
example to the Siemens mobile that I mentioned earlier. i.e. on the
V3X, I select an audio file, then select 'Options' then 'Use Bluetooth'
and then it says 'Look for Devices' but it finds nothing.

    Thank you again.

Using the windows XP menu, you have a case to set on, EACH TIME
you need to add a peripheral !
or also, in options, discovery, click "activate discovery"...

In many places, within the V3 menu, you have the opportunity to
select the storage place (card or phone), and according to this
choice, I suppose you will have respective indications ! ?

    > So - this way I could transfer files from phone to laptop.

    BRAVO !

As I told you before, Moto is not easy to manage with Bluetooth !
And you will have to search the way to get a 2 ways connection...
Just before using BT and looking for devices, check the OTHER
equipment (maybe opening the discovery, which switch off automatically)
Remember the ping pong game (table tennis) ! ! ! will be the same !
You have to come and go with both equipment.

I found out only fewer devices, while coupled with a Moto BT,
are easy to manage, but in your case, even when you get your
two ends paired, you'll have to experience some adjustments...

Re: RAZR V3x - not seeing other phones via bluetooth

    Guys,

Thanks - even more progress. I think I have figured it out finally.

For those who are dim like me, the trick was to select the image, audio
file, etc and then, instead of 'use bluetooth', one needs to select
'Manage', then 'Move', and then select 'Bluetooth' - then the Bluetooth
devices that found me do appear - and then I can send the file from the
    phone to the laptop.

still curious as to why from the laptop I only see files in the phone
memory (and not the memory card) - but that is minor, since the rest is
    working.

Thank you all once again for your patient help - it is very much
    appreciated.

There's a program with some BT PC devices called My Bluetooth Places.
Using that you can look at the phones photos and sounds like looking at
a hard drive or CD. I've done a writeup that you might find helpful at

Try changing/switching the storage device on your mobile before you do any
transfers. Settings, connectivity, USB and pick memory card. These are on
the V3i, not sure what the exact terms are on the 3x.

This shouldn't affect Bluetooth stuff but I find that it does on my V3i.
