Looking for info on how the q charges. I have the ac adapter and that
works. I bought a car to usb adapter and used the mini usb cable that came
with the phone. Even though it says it is charging, it does not. It also
does not charge on a computer usb if the batter is very low.
So some questions
1. If on "AC" will the ac fully power the phone and charge the battery
while in use?
2. Why does the mini usb cable and car to usb adapter not charge the phone?
3. What needs to be done to get a full day of use out of it with about 60
minutes of talk time?

Re: Motorola Q batteries and charging
Tia,
Not sure why the car charger doesn't work. It should charge the phone
without any problems. As for the mini-usb cable, that all depends on
your computer. To my surprise, I found that all usb ports are not
created equal. More specifically, not all usb power outputs are the
same. Obviously, to charge the battery you need to have more power
than what you are using. My laptop will not charge my phone if the
phone is on. It has enough juice flowing through the cable to sustain
the battery at it's current level and power the phone, or, I have to
turn the phone off to charge the battery. My desktop, on the other
hand, will charge the phone without difficulty regardless of it's power
state.
Unfortunately, I don't know if there is a way to "boost" the current
running through the usb ports. If I were a gambling man, and I am, I
would put money that there isn't anyway to change this except to
replace the usb ports.
Hope this helps, and if you find out anything else, post it here.

Re: Motorola Q batteries and charging
I've seen this charging issue, too, but it's intermitent. I've put my Q
in the cradle overnight and it has not charged. It doesn't always
happen -- how about for you?
I've noticed a couple of times that the phone has some other error when
it doesn't charge. Then, when I clear or correct that error, it resumes
charging.
The new software update is supposed to improve battery life, especially
if you do a master reset after you update.

Re: Motorola Q batteries and charging
I've learned more. The Q expects to see some intelligence in the charger.
If it does not, it reacts differently. So to charge the Q a power source
with a compatible "chip" is needed.
If there is no chip, the Q will only top off the charge on a mostly charged
battery. If it is deeply discharged, it will NOT charge.
