Could anyone point me to where I can download this without paying for
it. My daughter got an L6 for Christmas and I'd like her to be able to
share content, create ringtones etc. I can't believe Motorola charge for
it, although apparently it is given away with some of their phones. Why
they can't follow Nokia's lead and just have the software for free is
beyond me.

Did you also steal the phone?

Helpful. Tell me why should Motorola charge for something that Nokia
give away for free & that allows full functionality of the phones
features. As I already pointed out the s/w is given away depending who
the provider is.

Because they choose to?

A gun isn't a weapon; it's a tool. Like a harpoon, or a hammer or an
alligator. You just need more education on this subject.

You don't think Nokia pays Motorola for the software? Some stores are
offering a free DVD player when you buy a TV. If you buy a TV from a
store not making that offer are you going to steal a DVD player from them?

Just ignore to holier than thou posters, believe me it's not worth the
effort of even stealing, get some shareware tools and a Bluetooth
dongle.

You should "steel" a dictionary.

Buy a cheap Bluetooth dongle and forget about PhoneTools. You can create
..mp3 ringtones with Audacity and the Lame encoder at no cost other than
downloading, and then transfer to 'phone. Same for wallpapers and
transferring content off your 'phone. Caveat: Verizon in the US cripple
their 'phones to prevent a lot of useful actions. Despite your encoded <g>
mail address I realise you could be a none UK group participant.
Drop me an email to newton.p at supanet.com with the address duly corrected
and I'll send you a CD with a variety of free bits of software to make more
use of the L6.

You know that's a very sad argument. I pay for all my music & films. I
know that Motorola don't have a problem with giving the s/w away with
the phone so why should I be made to pay for it. All this has done is
made me say I will never buy a Motorola again. BTW I rang my father & he
is sure he got the s/w with his L6 so I'll use that. As far as the
sanctimonious ****s out there go have a Happy New Year.

Thanks... I appreciate your help. BTW I am in the UK so if mailing a CD
is a problem I can appreciate that. BTW I did think of Bluetooth but was
thinking of the simple option for my daughter as she is only 10, however
it may be the way to go.

Once initially configured, Bluetooth is easier then a cable. Simply
place the phone near the computer, rather then tethering it, and the
result is the same.

A well-dressed man walks into a bar and asks a woman to sleep
with him for $1M. The woman is excited and she gives immediate
consent: "Of course I'll sleep with you!".
Then the man asks, "will you sleep with me for $5?". The woman
indignantly replies, "Of course not! What do you think I am?".
The man replies, "We've already established what you are; now
we're merely haggling over the price."

Maybe this will help:
http://www.askfiles.com/software/motorola-phone-tools/
It's for version 2, but it might update.

You may want to turn your frustrations to the provider you purchased the
phone from.
It is they that sold you a stripped down package (and of course you who made
the purchase).
