BT H700 problems

I just got a new H700 headset, and am ignorant of these gizmos. The sound
quality is horrible, very scratchy and breaks up. It seems to be mostly on
the receive side that the problems exist. Often it's impossible to hear what
people are saying to me.

Is this some sort of interference? If so, what frequencies would interfere?

My thoughts exactly. Too bad it's all so subjective. Sometimes it's fine,
but on most calls it ranges from unacceptable to mediocre, and often sounds
like a phone in analog mode.
