I bought this PNY 2GB MicroSD from BestBuy. It comes with a SD
    adaptor.

When I put the card into the SD adaptor, I am able to use it on
my camera because my camera takes SD. When I connect my camera to
my PC, I also can use Windows Browser to view the card.

But when I put the MicroSD card into my MotoRazr 3i phone, it is
detected and marked as not-formated. But the format would fail
    without any explanation.

Is this the card's problem or the phone's problem? Should I get
Sandisk brand memory? Should I have the phone checked? Thanks.

The biggest memory card the V3i supports is only 512KB. Even then, this
card supports more tunes than iTunes will let you store, according to the
    webpage at Motorola.

Your 2GB card isn't supported by this phone. It IS supported by my
MotoROKR Z6m as I'm using a Sandisk 2GB uSD in mine.

Ask around your connected friends for a 512KB microSD and try it. I bet it
will work flawlessly. The phone doesn't support bigger cards.

    Sorry......

Sorry too, but that's not accurate. I used a 2gb Sandisk card in my v3i for
about a year before getting my v3Maxx. The specs said 512 because that's all
there was when the phone was first built but the 2 gb works fine too.

I don't have a PNY but look to see if there's a lock on the side of the
adapter, it's just a slide switch. If it's locked it would prevent erasure
which would probably interfere with formatting.

Exactly what I saw with a "Patriot" brand 1 Gb microSD on my Motorola
V3m ... but the "SanDisk" brand 2 Gb microSD was fine.
