Well, it was time for an upgrade so I decided to retire my 3 yr old trusty
Moto V557's for a brand new RAZR V3 model.

When the phones arrived, had backed up everything on the V557s using Moto
Phone Tools. All went very well, with one exception. As I was restoring some
video files, there were two video files of about 300kb size each and I was
only able to send one to the phone. Moto Phone Tools said the "file too
    large".

Is the photo and video file storage capacity much smaller than my V557? Can
I change the storage capacity on the V3? Thanks.

If you must get a V3, and seeing you have a V557 you're most likely on AT&T
in the US, I'd look at the V3xx, or the new Razr2, but do look at other
offerings from other brands as well before you make your choice.

I don't know what the native storage sizes are for either the V557 or
    the RAZR V3.

You can buy add-on memory for the RAZR V3. It's called something like
"microSD/Trans Flash". Mine is 2 GB. The brand is "SanDisk". I bought
mine from Amazon. I haven't needed to store anything in it yet but it's
nice to know it's there in case I need to make a thirty minute video or
    something like that.

To Michael, even though there were some great choices out there and yes, I
am on ATT (X-Cing) I specifically wanted a Moto phone. The RAZR V3 is what
ATT offered as a free upgrade (well, with a $50. mail-in rebate card I gotta
wait for) and is similar in features to the V557.

I attribute my video storage issue to Moto Phone Tools as I was sucessfully
able to make and store as many video clips as I wanted from the phone
itself, ergo the problem lies in MPT telling me that there is not enough
storage space when there really was ample space.

Really? and where is this microSD card located? Are we talking about the
    same phone here? A V3?

I don't know about you but I'm talking about a Motorola RAZR V3m. Power
off. Remove the battery cover. Remove the battery. Careful inspection
should reveal the slot that holds the Micro SD Trans Flash memory. The
memmory card is about half the size of a postage stamp.

Thanks, now I know the difference between the V3 and V3m.
