There are Micro SD cards up to 2GB and Micro SDHC cards from 2GB and up.
You have an HC version which will not work in your phone. The non-HC
versions stop at 2 GB. Note: 2GB are available in both HC and non-HC
versions. You need the non-HC version.

.....and many phones won't access any card bigger than 1 GB, either....
But on:

page 116
It says the KRZR will read a 2GB SD card.....but not bigger.
Your Verizon Hobbleware firmware problem is more, well, problematic.
Verizon doesn't want you to do anything for yourself their bean counters
think they can SELL you, the reason I call them SELLphones, so they
hobble it all up by deleting features more sane companies, like Alltel
until the bastard ****heads at Verizon take over the company, I'm sure,
and ruin it all.
Howardforums.com is where the hackers are bypassing the hobblewares and

Best buy sells a better Sandisk MP3 player without SELLphone company

yeah, i was happy with the krazr for the first year or so, but now
it's a real frustrating hunk, thanks to both motorola and verizon.
still can't get any audio output from it other than the phone speaker
or the proprietary $25 usb headphones, so i can't even feed any music
i purcha$e from verizon into a pair of speakers. are they attempting
to chase customers away?

What was wrong with the answer I gave you several days a go? Again, you
can get the output with the Motorola adapter for UNDER 6 bucks! Just
buy the damn thing and stop with the conspiracy theories.

that adapter, described on the Motorola pages and accompanying the
phone for free, is only for the phone earpiece, mike with one earbud,
and doesn't carry the music player audio at all, as I said several
days ago.
if you fire up the music player with that adapter plugged in, even if
it has a pair of earbuds plugged in, the music comes out the bitty
widdle phone speaker, just as if the adapter is not plugged in. this
is not what i had in mind, and why i was annoyed when that's what i
received when i ordered what was described as what you are describing
and not what the official Motorola gadget was described as. hey, you
don't work for the company i bought it from, writing webpage ad copy,
do you?

Watch us Alltel customers flee the instant they want to burn their ****ty
firmware into our unhobbled Alltel phones. The churning will be massive

You're right, I referred you to the wrong one. The one you want looks
the same but is different. You can plug any standard 3.5mm headphones
into the adapter OR you can plug in a patch cord and connect to a
receiver or many car decks.
See this, it is different and is what you need:

Every carrier can load his own ideas and spam into the phones they sell.
The basic hardware is common, the boot OS is common, the firmware loaded
is company specific, even if you get it from Moto.
Company specific, already loaded, software, like Vcast on Verizon or
Celltop on Alltel is part of that firmware load.....along with deleting
whole sections of code that do things like COPY files from the SD card
to internal memory -or- make an MP3 into a ringtone -or- take your
pictures DIRECTLY to the SD card so you don't trash what little internal
memory is available when you have a 2GB microSD installed but aren't
allowed to use it because the carrier's trying to force you to use his
****ty picture email service at 50c a pop.
The firmware isn't "locked". The firmware features code has been
REMOVED to make way for more company crapware.
Case in point as we have the same hardware phones....
Start on the home screen and press the center black button of the arrow
keys. What do you get?
Alltel users get the complete Motorola menu. The selections are:
messages contact list recent calls
media gallery music player bluetooth menu
tools settings phone status
Axcess Web (crapware) Axcess Apps (crapware) Celltop (crapware)
Under Media Gallery the list is:
Camera Pictures Sounds
Video Cam Videos Music Player
In Pictures - OPTIONS, the menu lists:
SEND picklist for IN MESSAGE or TO ONLINE ALBUM
APPLY AS piclist WALLPAPER, SCREEN SAVER, CONTACT
CREATE NEW picklist Picture or Picture Album
PRINT
MANAGE picklist DELETE or MOVE (between internal and card) or
COPY (between one of the memories and the other or to bluetooth
FTP/OBEX/etc, if you have a pairing with a device that supports a file
transfer over Bluetooth, such as my Nokia N800 Linux tablet.)
MARK picklist CURRENT or ALL (to move or copy everything over)
CATEGORIES piclist ALL or No Category or [New Category]
ASSIGN TO CATEGORY (if you defined them..I don't.)
In SOUNDS - OPTIONS, the menu is:
SEND picklist IN MESSAGE or TO ONLINE ALBUM
USE BLUETOOTH (sends sound files to different place than music player)
(Bluetooth lets you pick an audio device (BT headset, car BT radio)
APPLY AS picklist RINGTONE (ONLY if you store the file on internal
memory otherwise it's blank) (Any MP3 or wav file on internal memory
can be a ringtone...without paying Alltel or anyone a dime.)
CREATE NEW picklist PLAYLIST then it lets you pick the songs for the new
playlist and name it.
MANAGE picklist COPY or MOVE or DELETE (only Copy if you've used an
internal sound as a ringtone or alert tone or the like)
Picking Copy or Move brings up another picklist of the other memory from
where the file is now or Bluetooth (again if paired with a BT device
that transfers files (FTP/OBEX/etc.)
MARK/CATEGORIES/ASSIGN TO CATEGORIES works like Picture
STORAGE DEVICES picklist INTERNAL or SD CARD or the file system on your
BT CONNECTED external device that's online. If I select BT with the
tablet connected, I get a list of the tablet's two SDHC 16GB SDHC cards
and internal memory of the tablet. When I pick one of those, it lists
the directory structure inside the card. I can mark files on the
tablet's music directories and tell the Z6m to COPY or MOVE them to one
of its memories, and the tablet will send them over the BT
link...eventually...(c;
FREE SPACE lists freespace on all devices, including the memories on the
BT connected Linux tablet if connected, usually with bad news of full
cards...(c;
PROPERTIES (after selecting a sound file) lists the ID3 tag stuff, if it
finds it.
SOUND SETUP picklist only AUTO REPEAT (on or off)
Music player is separate from Sounds. It's made for playing, Sounds is
made for handling but can play, sortof, too.
Video works like Pictures...same menus.
Video player acts like the Still Camera - both let you store directly to
the microSD card saving internal memory.
I compared the demo Z6tv model at the Verizon kiosk and the black button
brought up Vcast trying to sell me something.....Does it have a menu? I
didn't have time to try to find them as they wanted me out of there with
my silly questions about 'how do I make any MP3 file a ringtone?'
See any difference from Verizon's same features? Firmware...

A complete unlock and reflash of the firmware from one company's to another
would qualify. Hmm...let's define it as any upgrade to firmware that can
leave it a useless brick you can't access....a cellphone trait to be sure!
It's not hard to make any cellphone into a useless paperweight. Ask those
guys on howardforums! Hacking always makes a few bricks...(c;

yeah, comparinng the motorola krazr manual online to the verizon
version, i also note the genyooine motorola setup includes an option
to connect the usb port directly to the memory card to allow you to
treat it as a windows drive and move things up and down. no such luck
with verizon.

Yes, indeed I do. And thank you for taking time to help me understand these
things. But I still have one unanswered question: What is the difference
been VZW firmware and VZW Monster firmware? I have noticed that they are
separate downloads, but are they different?
It would be nice if one of these howardforums cell phone hackers would
publish a side-by-side comparison of all the different firmwares for this
phone. Now that would be useful information for someone like me who is
trying to decide which is best...
But then again, you did mention that awful word "brick." And seeing that I'm
a newb, perhaps I should just be happy with what Verizon has done to the
phone. But it irritates me and I see the same in your posts...and this is
what is driving me to HACK! ;c)
Thanks again,
David

If you're stuck on Verizon, you're stuck with hacking and the possibility
of ending up with a useless brick Verizon wants nothing to do
with....That's life.
