Hey all,
What is the cross model battery lineup for the P280? Is there some
site with a list of cross references? For example, P280/V60/V66 share
battery, V70/Timeport 7687 share battery, etc.
Thanks, Doug

The P280/T280/T280i use the same 5mm/7mm batteries as V60 and
Nextel i50/i80/i85/i90/i95.
They use the same travel and car charger/data connector as V60/66/70/120
and T720.
It is probably the easiest Motorola battery to get hold of from
thousands of sources, including brand new ones from eBay for $15 or so.

Excellent info and links Mike, thanks.

So getting a high cap battery will boil down to finding the high cap
door for cheap. I hate to pay as much for a piece of plastic as the
battery itself. Do you know off hand if the P280's door is shared
with any current model phone?

I still had this handy as I recently sold a T280 on eBay and was actually
quoting from the blurb for my ad.

Well, just the T280 and T280i, but that probably doesn't help you much.
(The hardware is the same, they just differ in color, and firmware)
The P has a dark silver door, the T models have light silver. You can get
them for $10 or so which, in the cell phone world, isn't a whole lot of
money, really. I've read complaints about battery life with the standard
slim battery, but the high-perf battery has worked just fine for me.
I forget now, but some varieties come with the standard battery and cover,
others come with the extended battery and cover. Are you sure of which one
you have? The 7mm (extended) battery has an extra "step" on the front end
(which bears the contacts on bottom) whereas the standard (5mm) battery is
pretty much flat on top and bottom.

Thanks for the comments. It turns out I have the extended battery and
door. I'm not seeking multiple batteries as much as a replacement
when this one conks out. Yes the P280 is a dinosaur in the fast
moving cell phone industry, but the RF and audio quality are so good.
I'm not caught up in the fervor to get the latest and greatest every
year.

Re: P280 shares battery with what?
You can also put MAXIMUM capacity batteries from Nextel i85 models.
There is no door for P280 to close over this battery, but you can get a
letter case to fit nicely over the phone w/ battery - and nobody will=20
know that you don't have a door. P280 holds the battery nicely with a
notch, so it won't come out (like it would in Nextel i85 which has a huge
battery door to cover over this MAXIMYM capacity battery, but not a=20
good notch, which would hold the battery in place without the door.)
This is what I am using in my P280 (I have 2 of these MAXIMUM capacity
and 2 of high capacity ones):

4=3D
Maximum Capacity Battery=20
Part#: NNTN4655A=20
$79.99=20
=20
=46or use with: i85s, i88s, i50sx, i55sr, i58sr, i30sx - &=
P280 !

Ron,
I just ran a test on the extended battery with my P280. From fully
charged, I got 1 hr 6 min of continuous talk in a single conversation
at 3 bars signal strength before a low battery beep. How does that
compare to what you get with a standard?
Thanks, Doug

The 280 battery cover for the high perf (7mm) battery has a black rubber
spacer glued to it. If that were removed, is it possible that it might
accommodate a thicker battery pack?
