    Hi everyone,

This will obviously strike you as an extremely stupid question, however
i've been experiencing extreme difficulties with my handset since i
    bought it 4 days ago.

I've been unable to set up the 'gprs' o2active service at all, even
though i've attempted to enter the settings on numerous occasions.

I've seen a couple of topics about similar things happening (well, with
MMS, which to no surprise is also not working).

O2 told me they'd 'configured' my phone to allow me to access GPRS,
however i don't really think they have a clue as to what they're
    doing.

If anyone else has an 02 moto t720i, then i'd be greatful if you could
tell me the exact settings which are in your phone and what else i need
to do to get this damned thing to work

    Thanks in advance

messaging to work and mine did with the picture messaging but i can only
send to emails. The Gprs still doesent work when i connect to wap it says
"connect using data call" i dont quite understand it perhaps someone else

Hope the following helps, it is the GPRS settings for the T720 on UK O2,
sent to me by 02 when I was having problems.:

    GPRS-WAP:
Select Menu (middle soft key) > More > Web Sessions.
Either select a New Entry, or highlight a profile that already exists,
click on the menu button, and choose Edit.
    Fill in the following:
    Name: O2 WAP GPRS
    Homepage: http://wap.o2.co.uk
    WAP IP 1: 193.113.200.195
    WAP Port 1: 9201
    WAP IP 2: 000.000.000.000
    WAP Port 2: 9201
    Timeout: 5 Minutes
    CSD No.1:
    User Name 1:
    Password 1:
    Speed (Bps) 1: 9600
    Line Type: ISDN
    CSD No 2:
    User Name 2:
    Password 2:
    Speed (Bps) 2: 9600
    Line Type: ISDN
    GPRS APN: FOR WAP: wap.o2.co.uk.

In the User Name 1 setting I have : user
In the Password 1 setting I have: password
But apparently they are not necessary ???

Note: the MMS (picture messaging) service on O2 does NOT work between 2
motorola T720i's, and I am told they are working on it. Again, from O2
    customer support:

    QUOTE:
I have contacted Anton on our Data Support team to ascertain when this
problem is likely to be resolved and
unfortunately they do not have a definite date for the resolution of
this problem but he has stated that it will definitely be resolved and
that every member that has been given a case number will be called to
advise that the situation has been resolved.
Please be advised not to use the MMS service between the 2 phones until
you have been contacted by Data Support to say that the issue has been
resolved as no further credits for mms messages sent will be refunded
    END QUOTE

Also, before you can use the GPRS system, as well as having your phone set
up in accordance with the above, you should have a little icon on the phone
lit up which is a square box with a square arrow in two corners. It appears
next to the signal strength meter and should be showing all the time. If you
don't have this, then O2 have not enabled GPRS on your account yet.

    Hope that helps.

Phone O2 and put in a formal technical problem report. Richard on extension
    64203 knows all about it.

You will then get a fault report number and they will let you know when the
problem is fixed. You should also then be able to claim a refund on any
failed test messages you have tried to send. They credited me for 8 tests at
    34p each when I asked.

I have been waiting 2 weeks but they do phone from time to time to keep me
    updated.

I know pic messages work between a T720 and a Nokia because I have seen that
work from my phone, so if you want to test it, find someone with an mms
    enabled nokia :-)

Glad if I have been of help.

I can say the same for Maxon. In fact, if there is a problem sending MMS,
I think the least possible cause is the brand of the sender-receiver.

In this case it is most definately a handset issue. O2 admitted to me that
they had a similar problem with the GD87's, it was not possible to send
picture messages between them (on O2 that is). This problem has been solved
apparently, but has manifested itself with the T720's.

I agree it is very odd and cannot think why it should be a problem, as if
anything two identical phones should be compatible.

Perhaps someone more technically aware than me could offer a possible
explanation for the problem O2 are suffering - oh, and tell them as well can
    you ?

In this case it is most definately a handset issue. O2 admitted to me that
they had a similar problem with the GD87's, it was not possible to send
picture messages between them (on O2 that is). This problem has been solved
apparently, but has manifested itself with the T720's.

I agree it is very odd and cannot think why it should be a problem, as if
anything two identical phones should be compatible.
