    Re: New Headset Beta Trial!

I just got my unit this morning via FedEx overnight.

First off, the unit is quite small and unobtrusive. When held in the
hand, my first impression was that for an earpiece, the unit was a bit
on the heavy side; it is made of a pliable plastic resin that is molded
to be a bit thick. Perhaps this is why it seems heavy, but it is indeed
quite pliable and seems sturdy too, as a result of the thickness of the
plastic piece. When I put it on though, I could barely notice how heavy
it was, and after adjusting it some I could hardly feel it. Thepart that
fits over the ear and holds the unit in place is pretty darn
    comfortable.

What makes this particular headset unique though, is the design of the
actual earbud. The speaker itself (also housed in plastic) is recessed
and has an outer rim. It actually faces forward when the unit is worn on
the ear; the speaker doesn't face inward towards the ear canal. JABRA
designed it this way because they have come up with what they call
"Eargels", which are separate from the plastic unit and fit onto the rim
surrounding the speaker. These eargels are made of a very soft gel
substance (which the name obviously implies), and come in two sizes,
Standard and Small. The Standard ones have a sort of oblong protrusion
that extends a little ways into the ear canal, with a hole right through
the middle of the gel to funnel the sound from the speaker. The Small
Eargels are much closer to being perfectly rounded, with only a very
slight extension into the ear canal. It is a matter of preference to the
individual as to which one is more comfortable. Since I just got it
today, I have been using the Standard, which I find to be very
comfortable indeed. I will use it all day to see if my ear becomes tired
of it, but for now it feels just fine. Tomorrow I'll test out the
    smaller Eargel.

As for sound quality and performance, this unit is simply great. I have
made a dozen or so calls with it, and each person I talked to I could
hear perfectly, and each also said they could hear me extremely well (a
few even said the loudness and sound quality was no different from a
landline with a normal telephone handset). I went outside into a parking
lot with quite a bit of background noise, and even when the wind picked
up, I could still hear just fine. In these conditions, the people on the
other end did detect some wind noise from the mic, but they said it did
not severely impact the overall sound quality or impair their ability to
hear what I was saying clearly. I guess the noise cancellation circuitry
does its job pretty well indeed. Tonight I will try it out in a busy bar
I like to hang out at every now and then, and see what happens.

So far so good... looks like JABRA came up with a winner.

    I've participated in the past.

Gave a tagged e-mail address - never seen ANY spam from it.

Last test I did was 3+ years ago - little in the ear headset I didn't
quite like - didn't fit in my ear right. I tried to be as polite as
possible, I even gave the headset to a few people to try and included
their comments, but let them know in my ear, it just didn't quite feel
    right.

This one just came today. A bluetooth freespeak 250!
    NICE!

Yah, I've done this for Jabra too. They do it this way so they don't
get flooded with requests via a website.

They're legit. And I got a BT Headset last time around!
