Jabra Corporation Research and Development is looking for volunteers
to beta-test new headsets for use on cellular and PCS phones. If you
are interested in getting a free hands-free device in exchange for
participating in this test, please follow the instructions below
carefully.
Participants must agree to use the hands-free device as much as
possible during the week after the test unit is received. They must
also be willing to complete a brief survey several days after the test
unit is delivered. The test unit will be yours to keep at the end of
the trial.
If you are interested in participating, please e-mail the following
information to the correct e-mail address below:
1) Your name and mailing address--no PO boxes please. Units will be
shipped by FedEx.
2) Your daytime telephone number. (Required for shipping.)
3) The manufacturer and model of your phone. (You may have to open the
battery compartment on the phone to find this information.)
4) If known, the type of telephone service you have -- Analog, GSM,
CDMA, TDMA.
5) Please confirm you aren't working in competition with Jabra and
that you are willing to complete the survey at the end of the test.
The hands-free units provided for testing are available in two
different models at this time. (Other models will be announced as
available.) Each model will only work on phones that have the correct
jack. Participants need to respond to the email address below
corresponding to their type of telephone with the information
requested above:
Type of Telephone/ email address
Nextel models i30, i35, and i80/ [email protected]
(headset connector is a single 2.5mm pin with
three contacts surrounded by an outer ring)
Other Telephone models including Motorola/ [email protected]
(headset connector is a single 2.5mm pin with
three contacts.)
Important -- do not use a fake or Spam-proofed return e-mail address
to send us the above information. We will be sending you a return
e-mail. If it can't reach you, and if your confirmation doesn't reach
us, you won't get a unit. Also, please do not reply to this posting on
the news group or copy your personal information to this forum. None
of the information sent will be used for any purpose other than this
test. None of the personal information will be kept after the test is
finished unless you wish us to keep your name on file for future beta
tests.
We will be sending the products out on a first-come, first-served
basis. If you do not receive a response to your request for a unit,
please assume that we have enough volunteers.
Thank you,
Jabra Research and Development

Re: New Headset Beta Trial!
Does it not seem odd to anybody else that there is no link to its
website to sign up? It's all done by e-mail. Plus, there is no
"personal" signature (i.e. Thanks, Rob M.). I wouldn't trust this, it's
probably just a ploy to get e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and
physical addresses. Telemarketers, anybody?

Jabra has posted beta test offers to the newsgroups in the past, but I
suspect the response is large and the signal-to-noise ratio is poor. They
already have lots of email addresses on file from previous respondents
that actually complied with the terms of the trial in the past. So why not
use them? They emailed me with the same offer over the weekend.

Re: New Headset Beta Trial!
Well all I can say is that I received mine FEDEX today and its damn nice for
free. So while you debate the merits and techniques of JABRA'S marketing and
R&D , I gotta go make some calls and try it out.!! (Yes I was a previous
BETA participant and was EMAILED last Thursday) They may be hurting for
participants as this is a Motorola only BETA, so that drops their previous
BETA pool down, taking out the SONY Ericsson and NOKIA people.

Its legit. I participated in a beta test for them in June of this
year. I got in on it by answering a post very similar to the one
here. As part of the post usage questionnaire, they asked if I wanted
to be contacted for future tests. I said yes and was contacted last
week via email. Fedex attempted delivery today. I would suspect that
by the time anyone reads this, Jabra will have as many testers as they
need.

I sent in for it anyway. I figure my cell phone is unique enough for my
area to get them interested anyway.

Nope. They're for real. They post a similar note every time they
have a new model that needs testing. I've participated in several of
their betas.
